Yubrank Suazo completes 100 days of confinement in a punishment cell of "La Modelo"

Suazo’s second arrest occurred a day after he denounced that the Nicaraguan regime’s police were preventing Catholic believers from entering a parish in Masaya that, according to the faithful, was under siege.

The first time he was arrested was on September 10, 2018, the opponent was “La Modelo” for more than nine months and was released on June 11, 2019, under the controversial Amnesty Law approved by the steamroller of deputies Sandinistas in the National Assembly.

In this second “kidnapping”, the opponent remained captive in the torture cells of “El Nuevo Chipote” for 40 days and on June 30, the regime of Daniel Ortega ordered the political prisoner to be transferred to “La Modelo” and locked him up in punishment cell 300, “El Infiernillo”.

The Ortega regime found Yubrank Suazo guilty of the alleged crime of conspiracy to undermine national integrity and dissemination of false news.

The judicial Ulisa Yahoska Tapia Silva, Judge of the Thirteenth Criminal District of Judgment, was the delegate for the process against the political prisoner. The court sentenced the opponent to 10 years in prison.

Tapia Silva is part of the 13 Ortega judges of the Supreme Court of Justice that the United States Department of State sanctioned because “it undermines democratic processes or institutions when it convicted and sentenced pro-democratic leaders on false charges of” undermining national integrity “in trials fake” vs. political prisoners.

The Civic Alliance for Justice and Democracy, an organization to which Suazo belongs, pointed out that the Masaya leader «has been prosecuted and convicted without having committed any crime nor have any links with criminal structures.

In addition, the opposition bloc demanded the Ortega-Murillo regime the immediate and unconditional release of the prisoner of conscience.
