YPFB exceeds the milestone of 1 million residential gas installations

By Walter Vasquez

Until December 2021, the number of home gas installations in the country reached 1.08 million, which benefit 5.41 million people in the nine departments, reported Bolivian Fiscal Oilfields (YPFB).

Last year, 70,155 installations were carried out, of which 35.7% were carried out in La Paz, 20% in Santa Cruz and 21.8% in Cochabamba. The departments with fewer connections are Pando (314) and Tarija (180).

“We have an aggressive plan, especially in the department of Tarija, to carry the largest number of gas networks. We are going to enter with a Commercial District for the Chaco and in this way implement the benefit in this region”, affirmed the executive president of YPFB, Armin Dorgathen.

Former Hydrocarbons Minister Guilllermo Torres questioned that the MAS Government promotes the change in the energy matrix without having previously guaranteed a sufficient amount of gas reserves to comply with the internal market and the export contract to Argentina, which is due to the overexploitation of energy, the decline of the megafields and the greater local consumption.

“We are going to run out of gas. Why have they made us change our kitchens and transform the type of energy used in industry?” he said.

In the immediate term, the basic service allows families to save, since before they spent an average of Bs 45 on two bottles per month, while now they pay between Bs 8 to 10 per month, depending on their consumption, highlighted the state oil company.
