YPF will import 500 thousand cubic meters of diesel to supply demand

In the country, between 15% and 20% of local diesel consumption is supplied by imports.

the oil company YPF will import over the next 45 days around 500,000 cubic meters of diesel to supply the local market, to respond to the strong demand for fuel that has been verified since the beginning of the year.

“In the next 45 days, YPF will import 10 ships with a total of almost 500,000 cubic meters of diesel. According to the tentative schedule, this week 2 boats arrive5 ships in July and 3 in August”, sources from the sector specified.

This is due to the fact that the demand for diesel since the beginning of the year has been sustained at historically high levels and faced with this growing market, YPF arranged actions to be able to contribute to respond to this situation.

“As a result, in the third week of June, a 50% decrease in station breaks compared to the second week”, pointed out the same sources.

In the country, between 15% and 20% of the local consumption of diesel -without considering the power plants- is supplied with imports.

In the case of YPF, diesel purchases abroad were 20% higher in the first quarter compared to those made in the same period of 2021.

The supply problems that are recorded in different parts of the country are being monitored by the FArgentine Federation of Freight Transport Business Entities (Fadeeac) through the so-called “Diesel supply map”.

Based on the latest report from the business chamber, between June 15 and 25, Tierra del Fuego was the only province in which cargo carriers had no problems with fuel, while in 23 districts reported supply problems.

The map is made from the responses of truck drivers and owners of some of the 4,500 SMEs that make up the 44 transport chambers gathered in Fadeeac.

The president of the entity, Robert Guarnerisaid that “without fuel our activity is unviable” and asked the national government to be summoned to participate in “Work Tables” to find solutions to this situation.

In the port of Bahía Blanca, a group of self-convened carriers held a protest this Monday morning burning tires at one of the accesses to the maritime terminal, due to the lack of diesel.

Protest, which did not include cuts in vehicular trafficwas held in the area known as “El Triángulo”, located on Route 3 and the access road to the port terminals.

“We are here because of the lack of diesel, a truck carries 600 liters of fuel and they give you 50 liters or less, so it is impossible to travel because we travel 110 kilometers,” said Pedro Brandel, one of the self-organized carriers who participated in the protest.

For its part, the Coordinating Board of Owners of General Cargo Transport announced the implementation of force measures in different parts of the province.

In a statement they indicated that the cuts will be carried out in different areas such as Bahía Blanca, Quequén, Pigüé, Tres Arroyos, Dolores, Lobería, Coronel Suárez, Tandil, Concordia, La Paz, Gualeguaychú and Rosario, among other points.
