The 2025 edition of the Youth Games (the largest multisport event in the country aimed at young athletes up to 17) was officially inaugurated with the Torch relay and the lighting of the pyre on Wednesday night (10) in Brasilia.
After the Torch fulfilled a route that began at the top of the National Museum, the Youth Games Flame was taken to the pira of the competition, which is installed in one of the most emblematic scenarios in Brasilia, between the National Museum and the Metropolitan Cathedral, two icons designed by Oscar Niemeyer.
The person responsible for starting the relay was the sprinter and Olympic medalist Rosângela Santos, who shared the thrill of living this moment: “It was a very special moment. Although we are used to great arenas and crowded competitions, carrying the torch brings a huge responsibility. The nervousness and anxiety took over, but it was gratifying to divide this moment with people I always admire. that we are all capable. ”
Already the task of lighting the pyre fell to another great name of Brazilian sport, lifter Bruninho Rezende: “Lighting the pyre is very special, especially for those who grew up watching the Olympic Games and dreaming of living this moment. I remembered my entire trajectory and I am honored, after five Olympics, I can be a reference for this kids. They dream.
