Youth Baseball: Herrera and Panama Oeste strike first in the Round of 8

The teams of Herrera and Panama Oeste began their respective series in the Round of 8 of the National Youth Baseball Championship on the right foot.

At the Horacio Mena stadium in Chame, Los Vaqueros unleashed a 19-hit offensive to defeat Chiriquí Occidente by knockout in seven episodes 19 runs to 2 to take the 1-0 lead in their series.

Carlos Bethancourt went 3 for 4 with a triple, three runs scored and six RBIs, while Jeremy Sánchez went 4 for 5 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Herrera gets win

Herrera’s ninth easily overcame 13 runs to 0 against Panama East to take the lead in their 1-0 series.

Alexis Bernal pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, striking out six and giving up four hits to earn the win.

Luis Rivera went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one scored, while Jorge Pinilla went 2-for-2 with two walks, four runs scored and an RBI.
