A story full of emotions and a happy ending, was what María Chávez experienced. With 37 weeks of gestation, the 22-year-old young woman from Loreto gave birth to her second child aboard the PIAS Yavarí, after being transferred in an emergency due to intense labor pains in her home, located in the rural community of San Sebastián , in the province of Mariscal Ramón Castilla.
After arriving in this community, medical personnel from the itinerant platform managed by the PAIS National Program, of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), immediately responded to the call for help from the local authority to attend to the pregnant woman. After being evaluated by specialists in her home, the evacuation of the young woman was recommended, as she was in the contraction phase.
Accompanied by her aunt, the young woman entered the PIAS Yavarí delivery room. Thanks to the attention and trust that the obstetrician and nurses gave her, she brought little Carlos Junior into the world, who was born weighing almost 4 kilos and crying energetically to the happiness of the entire crew and especially his father, Carlos. Arimuya, who was waiting for him anxiously.
Later, mother and son went to the observation room, where their health was monitored to evaluate their medical discharge. Miguel Quispe, manager of the PAIS program on board the platform, highlighted the professionalism and response capacity of the medical personnel, in the face of these emergency cases.
“The PIAS equipment meets the demands of a delivery room. In a safe environment, specialists provide quality care before, during and after birth. The baby received her first vaccinations and underwent her first growth and development (CRED) check. In addition, the process of his DNI and his affiliation to the SIS began “he highlighted.
This birth, on the banks of the Yavarí River, is the ninth that has been successfully attended this year in the Social Action Campaigns, which are carried out in the Amazon. In addition, it is the third to be registered on board the PIAS Yavarí.
It should be noted that the medical care of pregnant women is one of the most important services provided to the native communities settled in the Loreto rivers, through the river PIAS, thanks to the articulated work between the Diresa, the Reniec, the Navy of War, the Ministry of Culture and the PAIS program.
