Young Venezuelan dies in attempted robbery on the Maicao-Paraguachón highway

A 19-year-old Venezuelan boy identified as Pedro Luis Fernández Parra died when the vehicle in which he was traveling back to Venezuela from Colombia was attacked by alleged criminals last Tuesday, July 12.

The Venezuelan was shot in the chest and died while receiving medical care at a Maicao hospital, they report. media Colombians.

Apparently the objective of the attackers was to rob the occupants of the truck where Pedro Luis was traveling along with other people.

A report of Northern Journal describes that the criminal act took place at kilometer 82 on the road that connects Maicao with the district of Paraguachón, where the truck belonging to one of the cooperatives that covers that route was traveling.

According to witnesses, some men with indigenous appearance carrying firearms came out on the highway, who repeatedly shot at the vehicle in which several people were traveling.

The driver of the vehicle named Alex Suárez Alvarado was also injured in the event, who received a firearm impact on his cheekbone, managing to save himself, according to witnesses “miraculously.”

Until now, neither the Police nor any other authority in Maicao have provided further details of this case.
