Young student was murdered by her ex-partner

Marialys del Carmen Tovar Maestre (18), was killed with a firearm that her ex-partner allegedly used, according to the version of the victim’s mother, who testified at the Bello Monte morgue.

The incident occurred last Saturday at 9 pm in the vicinity of Tovar Maestre’s residence located at kilometer 12, Fila de Mariches, Sucre municipality (Miranda). Junior Murillo (24), Tovar’s former partner, shot him in the chest and fled. The girl died on the spot, according to witnesses.

Marialys and Junior had been separated for about a month and a half, but the man did not accept the breakup. “He went to look for her every day,” said Maribel Maestre, mother of the murdered woman, alluding to her femicide, who has not yet been captured.

The young woman worked in a store in Sabana Grande and was studying 5th year of high school.
