Registrations for the 9th edition are received until January 3
Ceibal and the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC) launched a new Edition – the 9th – of the “Young People to Program” Program whose fundamental objective is to offer free training opportunities in programming and testing for people between 18 and 30 years old.
On this occasion, we are calling exclusively for people residing in the interior of the country who have completed Basic Secondary Education in Secondary or UTU and have a valid Uruguayan Identity Card.
Young People to Program, since its creation almost 10 years ago, has trained more than 5,000 young people in high-demand technological skills, allowing them to access quality job opportunities.
“It is a Ceibal Program that trains young people between 18 and 30 years old in Programming and Testing. We also support and promote job placement in technology for young people. This is the 9th Edition that this year we are going to do with the Technological University of Uruguay –UTEC- with a proposal designed for young people residing in the interior of the country” confirmed Social Educator Silvia Gober.
“We are always working with the entire country, with all youth populations, understanding that in the interior it is sometimes more difficult to reach certain training courses. This time we are going to do it exclusively with the interior. Last year we had a women’s edition where only women could access this Program, something that had also happened in 2019,” the Program Coordinator commented to EL PROFESIONAL Diario. “In this way we seek to shorten the gender gap and ensure that women have more access to technology because Young People to Program trains in the 1st year and continues training in the 2nd year, but we also work with technology companies for insertion. employment of these young people” he added.
“Technology teams have to be diverse, there have to be men and there have to be women, and sometimes it is more difficult for them to access” he considered. “This year we decided to ensure that Jóvenes a Programr reaches the interior exclusively,” he insisted.
People interested in participating in these trainings must register by entering the Young People to Program Web Page, which is youngesaprogramar.edu.uy where they will find the form to sign up. “We are going to extend registrations until January 3, 2025,” he confirmed.
“The requirements are that they reside in the interior of the country, have a valid Uruguayan Identity Card and that they have passed the Basic Cycle of Secondary Education,” he explained.
CLASSES START IN MARCH
Classes will take place in parallel to the educational curricular year. “In the week of March 10 we would be starting the courses,” he announced.
“After the young people register, they will receive an email with an entrance test for which it is not necessary to study,” said Silvia Gober. “In this test, skills and abilities will be tested to be able to take this course. It is based on reading comprehension with some mathematics, but it is very simple,” he said.
“After they receive the result of this test, they will be able to continue with the registration process to start classes in March that will last until November,” he reported.
Young People to Program is a Ceibal Training Program, in this case in alliance with UTEC, which is developed 100% virtually. “You can do it from anywhere. The idea is that all young people can do it. Even Ceibal provides devices – computers – in the case of young people who do not have them so that they can do so. We know that Internet access, although it costs a little in some places, has become universal throughout Uruguay,” he stressed.
“We have had young people from Bella Unión to Solymar,” he illustrated. “We are all over the country,” he added. “We have not had major connectivity problems and the young people who want to take the course also solve it because they go and connect at another person’s house, a friend or family member, when they have classes or have to download materials,” said the Coordinator of Youth to Program. “We should be grateful because today in our country connectivity is easier,” he highlighted.
