On July 19, the CNE published the most recent cut of the Electoral Registry dated May 31, 2023, which indicated that only 27,174 people carried out the process through the Regional Offices for registration in the register.
Brenda Ribeiroleader of the Primero Justicia (PJ) party and promoter of the #HolaTúInscríbeteRE initiative, demanded that the National Electoral Council (CNE) start the operation to install 1500 registration points throughout Venezuela. He stressed that according to Súmate projections, there are three million people between the ages of 18 and 45 who must register in the Electoral Registry (RE).
On July 19, the CNE published the most recent cut of the RE dated May 31, 2023, which indicated that only 27,174 people completed the process through the Regional Offices for registration in the register.
“In the last cut we see that more than 27,000 have registered with only 24 offices in the country, the message is clear: people want to register, we demand that the CNE enable 1,500 points throughout the national territory, facilitate the registration and updating of data that together add up to 5,000,000 people,” said Ribeiro.
For his part, Gabriel Díaz, youth leader of La Causa R, declared “it is very difficult for everyone to register if the process is not brought to the people, to the foreign municipalities of the country. It would take a young man from La Gran Sábana 6 to 7 hours to get to Ciudad Bolívar one way, without counting the price of the ticket, that is an example, the electoral power must reach each citizen to exercise their vote in 2024 ».
While Víctor Vargas, youth leader of Acción Democrática said that young people from different organizations, politics and civil society “have launched information campaigns such as #HolaTúInscríbeteRE, making known the location of the OREs, but the Regional Offices are insufficient, the municipalization of the registration process must be urgent, all Venezuelans have the right to the process,” he said.
