Young man who denounced that policeman broke his identity card will be able to exercise his right to vote

A curious fact was revealed by a young man named Benjamin in the midst of the coverage of the constitutional referendum. This man believed that he could not exercise his right to vote because he had his identity card torn, accusing a police officer of having damaged it during an identity check. Finally, a police officer clarified that the young man can vote.

This situation was exhibited in the morning of Chilevisión “Contigo”, instance in which the young man stated that “a police officer like that handed it to me. He stopped me on the motorcycle and asked me for my documents… He had to have passed the best part. So, since he didn’t do it, he gave me the card like this (torn)”.

While the young man tried to apologize to the Carabineros for having a torn card, he commented that “they told me to do this type of procedure to avoid any kind of thing on the table… They told me ‘no, I couldn’t’“.

Finally, a police officer clarified that he should not have any problems voting with his ID in that state. “Only his license was broken. He is whole. If it had been that he was missing half, I already think that they would have put problems on the table when he went to vote (…) They will accept it the same. He shouldn’t have a problem,” he said.
