Young man missing in Santiago resort is being sought

Santiago Civil Defense, in collaboration with the National Emergency System 9-1-1, is searching for the young man José Rafael García Pérez, 21 years old, who disappeared this Sunday while bathing in a prohibited area of ​​the Timbeque resort, in Santiago.

The incident occurred around 9:45 in the morning, when García Pérez, a resident of La Mata de Santa Cruz, Montecristi, was reported as missing by relatives.

According to the authorities, the young man was in an area not permitted for bathers.

“Search teams, including underwater and aerial drones, have been deployed in the area to locate the young man. In addition, the National Police and a 9-1-1 health unit are supporting the rescue efforts,” the regional director of Civil Defense, Francisco Arias, told Diario Libre.

The official asked citizens to respect the security areas in the resorts to avoid tragedies like this one.

Civil Defense and authorities will continue to report on the progress of search operations.
