An erroneous citizen detention in the commune of La Florida ended with the death of a 22-year-old at the hands of neighbors after being mistaken for a criminal.
According to police information, two friends were sharing in a community square when they saw that they wanted to assault them from a truck, so they escaped from the place. One of them, in order to escape from the thieves, entered the patio of a home in the sector. The owner, seeing him, activated the community alarm and the neighbors came out of their houses, brutally beating the 22-year-old, who died at the scene.
The inspector of the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police (PDI), Rocío González, gave the details of the event.
“Through witness statements and security cameras in the place, we have been able to establish so far that the victim was in the vicinity of the place with a friend sharing in a public square, where they were approached by some subjects who tried to subtract their species” , he pointed.
“In his eagerness to escape from them, the victim enters a local address, in order to protect himself, where the owner of the house warns of the situation through a community alert, and the neighbors of the same sector leave thinking that this person was trying to steal in the building, being attacked,” he added.
At the moment, there are no people arrested for the death of the young man in Florida and the PDI Homicide Brigade continues to work on the scene to establish the details of the fateful event.
