Civil police officers from the 20th police station, in the neighborhood of Vila Isabel, north of Rio, arrested, this Monday (21), a teenager suspected of involvement in the attempted robbery suffered by the councilwoman Tainá de Paula on the night of the 3rd, on Rua Senador Nabuco, in Vila Isabel. Two men on a motorcycle approached the parliamentarian’s car.
According to the police, the driver of the car in which the parliamentarian was traveling did not obey the criminals’ order to stop and took off with the car. The teenager was responsible for firing the shots, which hit the radiator and armor on the right side of the car.
From the investigation, it was also possible to identify an adult man as the teenager’s accomplice, who has not yet been located.
The action is part of the 2nd phase of the Civil Police’s “Operation Turnstile”, which aims to suppress robberies, thefts and reception of cargo and vehicles. More than 100 criminals have been captured since September this year.
Crime
At the time of the crime, the councilor informed in a note that, as the car was armored, there were no injuries. “I was just approached by two men who fired two pistol shots at my car, towards my door, in Vila Isabel. I travel with an armored car and my protections. They won’t stop us! Axé!”, wrote Tainá on her social networks that same night.
The councilor was re-elected to serve another term for the PT in the Rio City Council.
From the beginning of the investigations, the police station ruled out any possibility of political motivation in the crime, making it clear that it was a crime against property and life.
