Two new unprecedented categories have been incorporated into the 2023 International Poster Biennial contest, whose call was launched last night at the Simón I. Patiño Foundation. This is ‘Earth Overshoot Day’, an urgent call attention to the effects of climate change Y the second dedicated exclusively for students from 18 to 25 years old with a focus on ‘Technology and Mental Health’.
The call has six categories enabled: cultural, social, advertising and design in motion, in addition to the two new themes, ‘Earth Overdraft Day’ and the second exclusive for students from 18 to 25 years old with a focus on ‘technology and mental health, by the way’ of the coronavirus pandemic.
For this new version artists are expected to participate design from around the world and the presentation ofat least, 10 thousand posters.
The director of BICeBé, Susana Machicao, highlighted the international dimension acquired by the event as a creative networking arena. In this scenario, professionals, students and Bolivian and Latin American design schools have generated alliances and fruits that go beyond the event itself.
The Poster Biennial is one of the most important visual communication events in the region. For 13 years he united the country and has meant a window for Bolivian and Latin American talent to the world.
“The Poster Biennial integrates everyone through a responsible design practice. It opens up to cities and citizens through the invasion of graphics in their exhibits. We project interactions with a vision of the future, thanks to training and exchange (…), to the opening of inclusive spaces and to understanding and prioritizing what societies need”, indicated Machicao.
A high-impact academic space
The 2023 version of the Biennial has the important support of the Franz Tamayo University (Unifranz). Its rector, Verónica Ágrega, highlighted the high-impact academic space linked to the meeting. The events that make up the official program nourish the student community.
“The arts have always been at the forefront and showed us how critical issues can be addressed, from the political to issues of global awareness in a creative and challenging way. Definitely the arts make us more human. Many times we believe that they are decorative, but we do not realize that They are the essence of humanity,” he said. the academic authority at the launch event.
Ágreda assured that, like past efforts, this version will also be a “resounding success” and invited all design students and related areas to participate, so that they can be an active part of the event that is created exclusively for them.
The 2023 version of BICeBé will have as headquarters in Santa Cruz de la Sierra with a replica of activities in La Paz. Both capitals will share the agenda of activities of one of the main design events for Latin America and the world.
The best posters will be part of the main BICeBé 2023 exhibition. They will be reviewed by members of an international jury invited for the occasion. Art Chantry (United States), Agnieszka Ziemiszewska (Poland), Javier Jaén (Spain), Claudia Schramke (Germany), Lorenzo Shakespear (Argentina), Catalina Estrada (Colombia/Spain) and Christopher Rojas (Bolivia/Chile), make up the rostrum rater.
The agenda of activities scheduled for November 2023 provides for the participation of important visual thinkers of design and education. It will address topics such as branding, advertising, entrepreneurship, packaging, typography, photography, 3D design, illustration and fashion.
