The radical leader and Argentine ambassador to Spain, Ricardo Alfonsín, affirmed that “you cannot do radicalism in Together for Change (JxC)” and considered that the political space to which he belongs could not “dispute the conceptual leadership” within the coalition opponent.
“Those who think the same have to meet, and it is clear that we do not think the same as the PRO. You cannot be radical in Together for Change,” Alfonsín stressed in dialogue with El Destape Radio.
In that line, He maintained that since radicalism ruled by integrating JxC in the 2015-2019 period “we accompany policies that we should not have accompanied”and ensured that as of 2019 “we have opposed policies that we should have accompanied”.
In this way, he pointed out that “the front would be broken if the radicals tried to make proposals that had to do with what we think“, since, he considered, those policies “would contradict the proposals that they would make from the PRO”.
Alfonsín analyzed that today in JxC “there are more tensions because radicalism, after 2019, was encouraged to dispute the electoral leadership.”
However, he pointed out that “what radicalism has not yet shown is that it is willing to dispute conceptual or programmatic leadership.”
“If we are going to say the same thing that the PRO proposes, because if Cambiemos does not break, it does not matter if the candidate puts it one or another party“, he sentenced.
