You can now use Apple Pay and Google Pay wallets in the Integrated Transport System

Ya puedes usar billeteras de Apple Pay y Google Pay en Sistema Integrado de Transporte

The Mobility and Transportation Trust (FIMOVIT), in collaboration with the company PORTAL, has officially enabled the option of payments with Electronic Wallets in the Integrated Transportation System (SIT) of Santo Domingo and Santiago.

From now on, users can use their Apple Pay and Google Pay wallets enabled in the country by financial institutions directly in the Santiago Cable Car, the Los Alcarrizos Cable Car, and in the bus corridors of Winston Churchill, Núñez de Cáceres and Charles de Gaulle avenues, as well as on the routes of the OMSA that have the electronic payment service.

This solution offers a higher level of convenience and security, since the user does not need to wait in lines or recharge, and can use their mobile phone as well as their bank card, thus consolidating the acceptance of payments with contactless bank cards from major brands, which were already part of the payment methods incorporated into the system from the beginning of the new transportation model, which positions the Dominican Republic as one of the countries with one of the most up-to-date ticketing systems in the region.

Additionally, by integrating more advanced payment tools such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, the offer of electronic payment services is extended and the acceptance of bank cards is consolidated, facilitating payments for thousands of users who seek convenience and speed when using our country’s transportation system. Users who wish to use this service only need to validate the availability and registration steps with their financial institution.

“We are pleased to offer users of the Integrated Transport System (SIT) the possibility of using digital wallets for their daily payments. This initiative not only improves urban mobility agility and the travel experience of our users, but also demonstrates our dedication to the adoption of innovative technologies that make the lives of our citizens easier,” said Ricardo Roques, CEO of FIMOVIT.

FIMOVIT is also prepared to extend this digital payment option to other modes of transport in the near future, ensuring that users enjoy a standardised payment experience across all modes of public transport.
