MADRID, Spain.- The musicians Yotuel Romero and Jen Carlos Canela sang live, for the first time this Monday, the song “Sueño”, dedicated to the freedom of Cuba. The presentation took place at the Koubek Center, a cultural center of Miami Dade College (MDC), located in Little Havana.

The song, which was released on YouTube last Aprilhas the collaboration of the renowned Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and, according to its authors, is a continuation of “Patria y Vida”, which has become the Cuban anthem and winner of two Latin Grammys.

After the performance at the Koubek Center, Jen Carlos Canela, who has Cuban roots, told telemundo51: “This is a song that was made out of necessity. Art is to express yourself. What we wanted to do was express a reality”.

For his part, Romero pointed out that “Sueño” aims to unite Cubans inside and outside of Cuba, “who feel empathy for what their parents have suffered and for what Cuba is suffering today.”

“The Cuban people have never had so many artists united for freedom. You have to keep pushing the ship of freedom, because it is about to set sail”, considered the musician.

During the live premiere of “Sueño” were present, among others, the Cuban activist Rosa María Payá and Madeline Pumariega, president of the MDC.

Moments of the gala were shared in Twitter by MDC, which also noted: “This powerful anthem celebrates the resilience and unity of the Cuban people, transcending borders and inspiring hope for a better future.”

“I know that the sun is about to rise again, that we are about to hold hands. Fill ourselves with illusion again, and overcome all the bad things of the past”, is heard in a fragment of the song, referring to the confidence of the musicians that the freedom of Cuba is close to arriving.
