Yolanda to Pablo Milanés: “Now you will delight with your music that place where the good guys go”

Pablo Milanés, Yolanda

MADRID, Spain.- Yolanda Benet, the inspiration for the classic song “Yolanda” by Pablo Milanés, issued a moving message after the death of the musician, father of his three daughters.

“Dear Pablo, dear Pablo. For the second time this year I received one of the saddest blows of my life ”, his words begin, referring to the death of his joint daughter, Suylen Milanes, who passed away last January at the age of 50.

Benet, second wife of the singer-songwriter, pointed out that she followed Milanés’ state of health day by day, “with the hope that it would improve, although reality told her otherwise.”

“When I received the fatal news at dawn I was shocked. It was very difficult for me to accept that you were gone. I arrived at the funeral home and when I saw you I felt as if a stake had been driven into the middle of my chest, such was my pain. I went to your coffin and kissed you goodbye and already the anguish of your departure became unbearable, ”she reads in the publication.

Yolanda also said that at that moment she remembered their first meeting, 54 years ago; her encounters with troubadour friends; marriage and the arrival of daughters; and “other things that, despite the fact that sometimes they were not entirely ideal, always kept us together through thick and thin for the good of the family, with great respect and great affection.”

“Now you will delight with your music that place where the good guys go and where you can hug our daughter. Here we will always remember you for the wonderful legacy you leave behind, for your nobility, your goodness and for all the love you conveyed to your family, your friends, and your people. Rest in peace and may your light last forever ”, concludes her emotional farewell.
