YLB achieves resources certification for 21 million tons of lithium in the Salar de Uyuni

The state Bolivian lithium deposits (YLB) reported that the international firm SRK Consulting estimated resources of 21 million tons of lithium in the Salar de Uyuni, Potosí department.

“YLB informs citizens that, the estimation of lithium resources, of 21 million tons, in the Salar de Uyuni, has an international certification, bass rigorous technical standards from the Ni 43-10, ”explained a statement posted by YLB on their social networks this Sunday.

According to the publication, the estimate by SRK Consulting was prepared on the basis of the information generated between 2010 and 2018, through the elaboration of the hydrogeological numerical model (model of the dynamic resource of the deposit).

“The certified estimate allows to know the quantity, concentration and location of the lithium deposits in the country, so it is possible to plan investments for the development of this strategic resource,” the statement explained.

“YLB is committed to transparency and technical rigor in the management of Bolivian lithium resources,” he added.

In July 2023, YLB reported that he was managing the international certification of the new quantified resources in the Salares of Coipasa (Oruro) and large pastures (Potosí) under standards of Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).

YLB He had already quantified More than two million tons of lithium: 1.8 million tons in the salar of Coipasa and more than 200 thousand tons in the salt of large pastures, the result of the works of exploration that were resumed from 2021.

It should be noted that certifying lithium reserves in a given area for commercial purposes means Verify and validate the quantity, quality and economic viability of lithium present in that area, following internationally recognized standards and regulations, with the aim of being able to exploit it and market it in a profitable and sustainable way.
