Yes! Mothers get frustrated too

¡Sí!, Las madres también se frustran

Be mother It could be defined as one of the most special roles that women have; however, it is a road full of challenges and frustrations. Yes! frustrations, even though people think a mom can’t afford it.

When we talk about frustration, we refer to the feeling that is generated in an individual when they cannot satisfy a stated desire, and it turns out that mothers begin to plan the entire lives of our children from the moment we know them in our womb.

So the frustrations start from then on. If the birth results with a cesarean section and not as natural as we wanted it to be, if we were not able to breastfeed him for the “correct” time, or if we simply cannot make him sleep on his own.

And it is that society has established standards even for motherhood, and suddenly you can run into someone who tells you that if you carry your baby a lot, you raise him weak, while another person will tell you that this strengthens their bonds.

Based on what you have experienced, heard or read, you plan a parenting model that, when it doesn’t work out or has failures, generates frustration, and you know what? This is totally NORMAL.

Getting frustrated is natural to human beings, and mothers they are not exempt, we do not have to swallow this emotional response just because we are a mom. We have the right to cry, to rage and even to want a day without our children to drain emotions.

I saw myself once having to lock myself in the bathroom to cry without my son noticing, just because I couldn’t understand how he still hadn’t managed to get him to go to the bathroom by himself (yes, silly, just because according to me at that age He would already know how to do it), then I went out, hugged him and we played as always. But those five minutes of crying were liberating.

I used to feel bad and a bad mother whenever I cried or exploded, until I understood that this is natural and even necessary.

I discovered that my charge drain mechanism is crying, it frees me, it calms me down. So whenever I feel like it I let it out, if I can call someone and vent I do that too, and I don’t feel like I’m a burden on my friends or family just for venting.

As time goes by I am discovering that my son does not need a perfect mother, but one who loves him and is human, imperfect but who does not abandon. So strong and fragile at the same time, so normal.
