Yerba mate consumption grew in the first quarter of the year

Domestic consumption had an increase of almost one million kilos compared to the first quarter of 2021.

The internal consumption of yerba mate last March was 26,538,652 kilograms, thus reaching 67,962,109 kilograms in the first three months of the year, reported the National Yerba Mate Institute (INYM).

Thus, consumption in the Argentine market had an iIncrease of almost a million kilos compared to the first quarter of last year (66,965,051), indicates the monthly report of the INYM.

Regarding exports, Statistics indicate that 1,946,581 kilos of yerba mate were shipped last month; to total 5,332,796 kilos during the January-March period.

Regarding the harvestbetween January and March, 73,594,802 kilos of green leaves were processed in the dryers.

As manifested from previous years, half-kilo packages maintain consumer preference.

During last March the half-kilo packages represented 57.57% of mill outputs to the domestic market.

With 36.72%, packages of one kilo were located; with 1.24% the packages of two kilos; and with 0.86% those of quarter kilo.

In “other formats” outputs reached 1.36%, while 2.26% corresponded to the item “without stamps”, completed the agency.
