Reaction. The Public Ministry will soon present an appeal before the Supreme Court to request the challenge of the judicial sentence that decided the release of Yenifer Paredes, sister-in-law of President Pedro Castillo, from the Women of Chorrillos Annex prison, known as Santa Mónica.
It was the prosecutor Jorge García who announced that the institution will ask to annul the sentence that ordered the release of Yenifer Paredes and revoke the two and a half years of preventive detention against her.
“We are going to present a cassation, the Public Ministry is going to present an appeal so that in the supreme instance we can have a better criterion regarding dangerousness, regarding the criminal organization that has been evident to us in the case of citizen Yenifer Paredes,” the prosecutor told the press on Tuesday.
At another time, Jorge García, who was the prosecutor who presented the elements of conviction for the preventive detention against Yenifer Paredes, pointed out that the Judiciary had already determined “serious elements of conviction and evidence that determine the existence of an alleged criminal organization.” led by President Pedro Castillo and where the sister of the first lady, Lilia Paredes, would be involved as a “lobbyist”.
In this sense, García highlighted the “discordant vote” of the magistrate María Eugenia Guillén Ledesma on the revocation against the preventive detention of Paredes Navarro, who will leave the prison after almost two months.
“She has been quite clear in her discordant vote that we would be facing an undeniable power. That is what we have said so much in the preventive detention hearings, the hearing for appearance with restrictions and impediment to leave the country, ”she maintained.
