In statements given to Latina Television, Yenifer Paredes, Sister-in-law of President Pedro Castillo, stated that she felt confident about the results that could be obtained from the investigations that are being carried out by the justice system regarding the case of an alleged criminal organization in which both she and the head of state would be involved.
In this sense, indicated that “the new evidence that will be added” to the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office will demonstrate his innocence and rule out their involvement in any criminal plot.
Likewise, he implicitly referred that his judicial situation could be used to attack Pedro Castillo’s management, although he stated that “the results must be awaited” to obtain conclusions.
These expressions occurred at the time when Yenifer Paredes, accompanied by her lawyer José Dionisio, was leaving one of the offices of the Public Ministry, where she had gone to undergo a graphotechnical expert report, one of the tests scheduled by the justice system in relation to to your case.
It is worth mentioning that Yenifer Paredes has been free since October 24 after ruling the status of restricted appearance in her favor, given after the sister of the first lady Lilia Paredes remained for almost two months in the Santa Monica prison, where she was serving a preventive detention mandate.
What is Yenifer Paredes accused of?
According to the hypothesis proposed by the Prosecutor’s Office, Yenifer Paredes would be part of an alleged criminal organization that would be led by the president peter castle and that it would have the objective of taking advantage of irregular tenders granted to close associates of the head of state.
In this regard, the sister-in-law of President Castillo was accused by the Public Ministry of committing the crime of influence peddling, an accusation motivated by the participation that Paredes would have had in directing works in the Cajamarca region.
Here, according to the fiscal hypothesis, Yenifer Paredes was in charge of visiting the target districts and talking with their authorities, in order to promote contracts for the execution of public works, preparation of technical files and supervision of these operations.
Last August, the “Fourth Power” program made public a video in which Paredes appears precisely in one of these acts, in the district of San Miguel in Cajamarca. Said footage led to the ordering of his preliminary arrest, which occurred on August 10.
