The lawyer of Yenifer Paredes, the investigated sister-in-law of the former president Pedro Castilloassured that his client has not sought asylum in the Mexican embassy and that, on the contrary, he is responding to the Prosecutor’s Office.
Peru21 José Dionicio was contacted to inquire about the whereabouts of his client, after President Dina Boluarte revealed that the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador decided to give that protection to the Castillo family.
“She (Yenifer Paredes) considers herself innocent of everything and will face her trial in Peru,” he said.

Dionicio explained that Paredes told him that on two occasions: last Friday, December 16, the last time they communicated, and Wednesday, December 7, the day Castillo perpetrated the coup.
On this last date, the lawyer specified, he presented writings to the special team led by the prosecutor Marita Barreto and to the Judiciary to notify the change of address of Paredes, who complies with restrictions.
“Her residence was set at the Government Palace but in the face of force majeure events (the coup), she no longer lives there; I asked her what her position would be and we have reported that (…) her new address is in Lima, ”she said.
The Prosecutor’s Office charges Yenifer Paredes with the crimes of criminal organization, aggravated collusion and money laundering when noting her participation in the distribution of public works from the Ministry of Housing.
In that same case is included his sister, the former first lady Lilia Paredes, whose legal defense was in charge of Benji Espinoza. However, Espinoza has distanced himself from the former presidential couple since Castillo Terrones tried to illegally dissolve Congress.
Since October, the minor of the Paredes has complied with rules of conduct that if she does not comply with them, they can be revoked by preventive detention. Among the obligations ordered is not to be absent or change her place of residence without authorization from the judge and to attend the registration and biometric control office monthly.
