
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued this Sunday a yellow alert for storms of varying intensity and occasional hail in the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) and surroundings, in much of the province of Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos, Córdoba, south and center of Santa Fe, center and north of La Rioja, Catamarca, Tucumán, Salta, and north and center of Jujuy.
The agency stated that in Buenos Aires the alert covers the central, eastern, western and northern areas of the province.
The yellow level indicates that the indicated areas will be affected by storms of varying intensity, some of which may be strong, accompanied by intense gusts, strong electrical activity, occasional hail, and fundamentally abundant waterfall in short periods. Values of accumulated precipitation between 30 and 60 millimetersand can be overcome locally.
In addition, the SMN issued an orange alert for the center, north and south of the province of Santa Cruz and for the rest a yellow alert.
The area will be affected by winds from the west sector with speeds between 60 and 75 kilometers per hour, with gusts that can exceed 120 according to the orange alert and by winds from the west sector with speeds between 40 and 55 kilometers per hour, with gusts that can exceed 90 in the case of the yellow alert.
It also issued a yellow alert for strong winds for a large part of Río Negro, central and southern Neuquén province, and for a Zonda wind in southern Mendoza.
