A yellow alert for strong storms was issued this Monday by the National Meteorological Service (SMN) for the provinces of Entre Ríos, Jujuy, Tucumán and sectors of Salta, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero, Córdoba and Santa Fe.
For the province of Salta, the alert for heavy rains covers the capital and the towns of Cerrillos, Guachipas, General José de San Martín, Yunga de Iruya, Yunga de Orán, Yunga de Santa Victoria, Anta, General Güemes, La Candelaria, Metán. , Rosario de la Frontera, Cachi, Cafayate, Chicoana, La Caldera, La Poma, Valles de Molinos, Rosario de Lerma and Valles de San Carlos
In Catamarca it includes the cities of Andalgalá, Belén, Pomán, Santa María and Tinogasta, while in Córdoba it affects the departments of Ischilín, Río Seco, Sobremonte, Tulumba, and San Justo.
For Santiago del Estero, the alert extends to the capital and the towns of Figueroa, Alberdi Copo, Moreno, Pellegrini, Atamisqui, Banda, Choya, Loreto, Ojo de Agua, Robles, San Martín, Silípica, Aguirre, Avellaneda. Belgrano, General Taboada, Juan F. Ibarra, Miter, Quebrachos, Rivadavia, Salavina and Sarmiento.
Meanwhile, in Santa Fe it includes the capital and the cities of Nueve de Julio, San Cristóbal, San Justo, Belgrano, Castellanos, Las Colonias and San Martín.
The area will be affected by storms of varying intensity, some of which may be locally strong, accompanied by occasional hail, frequent electrical activity, intense gusts and abundant rainfall in short periods, the SMN said.
Accumulated precipitation values between 20 and 60 mm are expected, and may be exceeded locally, and the highest values are expected in the northwestern region of the country.
