The National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) raised the alert to yellow for the province of Darién, due to the passage of tropical storm Julia through the region.
This alert is raised from 4:00 pm this Saturday and for the next 24 hours. Sinaproc reiterated that the rest of the country remains on yellow alert, with the exception of the province of Panama.
The technical-scientific decision is based on the forecasts of the ETESA Hydrometeorology Directorate as a result of the displacement of storm Julia, which is bringing humidity and winds to the province of Darién, leaving streams and rivers to overflow, which could cause flooding and ground slides.
In the sectors of Panama East it is recommended to take extreme security measures, as a result of the increase in the flows of the rivers, streams and the rains that are recorded. The relevant coordination has already been made with the local authorities for the activation of their emergency protocols.

• Do not attend during the declaration of alerts to trails, mountains, rivers, streams, lakes and beaches; as well as avoid crossing rivers or streams that continue to rise.
• Do not park vehicles, or camp in dry riverbeds, or on the banks of rivers to avoid being surprised by a sudden flood of water.
• The population and especially those living in risk areas are recommended to stay informed and abide by the recommendations and prevention measures.
• Keep children, older adults and people with disabilities under surveillance.
