The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) forecasts strong storms and winds, for what issued three yellow alerts that cover different areas of the country. They will be updated from 20:30, or in the event of any changes.
An increase in pressure will generate an increase in sustained winds of up to 50 kilometers per hour, from the southwest, with gusts of between 60 and 75 kilometers per hour, indicates the Inumet. “Occasionally higher in southwestern coastal areas,” he notes.
Regarding storms, some may be “punctually strong”, and in these areas there may be intense rains in short periods, occasional hail falls, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.
“The situation will continue to be monitored and any changes will be reported,” adds Inumet.
