Yasmín Esquivel: “I am the author of the thesis; the other student already declared that he copied ”

In a statement published on her social networks, the minister said she believes “in transparency and honesty.” “In this process in which I have been the object of a campaign of lies and defamation without support, I have undertaken different actions through the competent channels of official institutions, to demonstrate that the truth is on my side, and thus, take care of the issues of justice and legal certainty,” he said.

Esquivel assured that “other interests” have wanted to intervene in the decision that the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) must make on January 2, when they elect their new president.

“I respect the institutions and their autonomy. For this reason, I have only focused on presenting through institutional channels an endless number of compelling evidence that demonstrate that I am the original author of the thesis. Ineffectiveness of the Unions in the Trusted Workers of Article 123 Section Awith this it is corroborated that I am a victim of plagiarism of the work, as I made it known at the time, “he said.

According to the minister, three IT expert opinions conclude that the thesis was uploaded to the TESIUNAM repository prior to the other student’s. “It was also proven that the file containing my thesis was improperly and illegally modified on December 22, 2022.”

All the tests, he said, were presented to the Academic and Scientific Integrity Committee of the FES Aragón of the UNAM within the deadlines required by that collegiate body.

Esquivel has been pointed out for plagiarism in his undergraduate thesis.

The controversy has accompanied Yasmín Esquivel since before reaching the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN). Since she was included in the shortlist to occupy the space left by Minister Margarita Luna Ramos, her application caused disagreement for being the wife of businessman José María Riobóo, who was a contractor and advisor to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on construction issues, including Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA).

Esquivel Mossa was nominated by President López Obrador along with Loretta Ortiz and Celia Maya. Since the shortlist was made public, the controversy arose and the candidate had to respond to the accusations.

A few days before the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation must elect their next president, Yasmín Esquivel was accused of plagiarism.

She is one of five ministers who have expressed interest in heading the country’s highest court of justice. The others are Alfredo Gutiérrez Mena, Javier Laynez Potisek, Alberto Pérez Dayan and Norma Lucía Piña Hernández.

The vote will take place on January 2 and the minister who is elected will be in the presidency of the Court until 2027.

Esquivel Mossa has already filed a complaint with the authorities for the alleged plagiarism of which he would have been a victim.
