The general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores y Trabajadores de la Argentina (CTA), Hugo Yasky, prevailed tonight with 91% of the votes for List 10 at the national level, with 70% of the ballot boxes counted, reported from the union organization.

“In a transparent election with a high participation of the affiliates of the Central, and with more than 70% of the polls counted, List 10 is widely imposed by more than 91% of the votes at the national level”reported in a statement from the CTA and highlighted “the militant effort of thousands of colleagues who, at more than 3,000 polling stations, guaranteed democratic elections.”

In this way, Yasky obtained the fifth consecutive term at the head of the organization and in the province of Buenos Aires the current general secretary of the Suteba teachers’ union, Roberto Baradelrenewed his mandate at the head of the branch of the union entity in that district.

Through his Twitter account, the union leader expressed: “It is a pride that the workers filled the ballot boxes with votes and confidence for the List 10 that won widely throughout the country. Union democracy is a right, a way to legitimize the conductions and today we demonstrate once again that another way is possible”.

In addition, Yasky pointed out that “for the first time, integrated lists with gender parity were voted on, another conquest of our Central.”

“I want to thank all the prosecutors and table presidents of all the forces that participated in the election. Now we are going for more organization, more unity and more rights!” he added.

The elections began at 8 a.m. and lasted until 6 p.m., with the ballot boxes set up in schools, hospitals, judicial departments and public offices.

In the national order, list 10 carried Yasky as a candidate for general secretary, and Daniel Catalano from (ATE Capital) and Edgardo Llano (APA) as deputies; and in the province, as a candidate for secretary general to Baradel; and as attachments, Hugo Russo, current secretary general of the Buenos Aires Judicial Association (AJB); and the Mar del Plata leader of Suteba, Raúl Calamante.

From the CTA dThey also stressed “that the other two lists did the same so that this historic election, for the first time, has gender parity in the composition of its governing bodies”.

“Today was a day of effective practice of union democracy that legitimizes leadership and shows that we are building a participatory union model with the leadership of the bases,” they completed in the statement.

List 6 is headed by candidate Patricia Juré from Aten, accompanied by Daniela Vergara from Amsafe; and Andrea Lanzette, from Suteba, as assistant secretaries; and Lucas Ruiz from Aten and Gonzalo Sanz Cerbino from ATE.

While list 4, leads Claudio Dellecarbonara, a Subway worker and member of AGTSyP, as a candidate for secretary general at the national level; and in the Province of Buenos Aires, Nathalia González Seligra, former member of the Executive Council of Suteba Matanza.

In the province of Buenos Aires, the elections are completed in regional elections that cover all the districts where there are 42 executive commissions, so 5,234 candidacies will be renewed in that territory.

Yasky called early to vote through his Twitter account where he wrote: “In every corner of the country, the 9 votes for the 10!”, and proposed “more unity, more struggle and more organization to continue conquering rights!”.

Later, in dialogue with Télam, the union leader said that the election began “very early” and that “it takes place with total normality throughout the country where some 652 thousand members and affiliates are able to vote, distributed in 3,969 tables ” .

“The only province where voting is not done is in Corrientes as a result of a precautionary measure ordered through a judge’s resolution that prevented the electoral act in what constituted a maneuver aimed at making the election take place,” he noted.

He thus referred to the request of List 5 that made presentations before the Labor Court No. 2 and the Ministry of Labor of the Nation to suspend the elections by alleging alleged “irregularities.”

Meanwhile, Yasky specified that the top 10 list is also made up of “representatives of different unions” and “highlighted that integrated lists with gender parity are being voted for the first time” in such a way that “we are proud to be the first center that incorporates in equal parts the representation of women and men”.

In the same way, he considered it “proud to show in practice that a center with a tradition of struggle is capable of electing its leaders at all levels through direct voting”, which is being done today “with an enormous effort, both material and of trade union militancy.

“This is guaranteeing that the full exercise of union democracy is a right and a way to legitimize the conductions that will face the mandate during the next four years in a country where the commitment that lies ahead is to deepen the policies so that the distribution of wealth, the elimination of inequalities and the full observance of human rights is a concrete fact”, pointed out the trade unionist.
