The canoeist Yarisleidis Cirilo and the judoka Andy Granda were chosen as the best Cuban athletes of the year 2022 in a survey carried out among the members of the Circle of Sports Chroniclers and specialists of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder).
Yarisleidis joined, together with Katherin Nuevola, the Cuban couple that was crowned in the C-2 modality at 200 meters corresponding to the World Canoeing Championship in the Canadian city of Halifax. In addition, she won five gold medals and one silver in the World Cup phases, as well as a scepter and a subtitle in the Pan American Championship.

Granda’s performance this year was marked by winning the title in the +100 kg division at the World Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. To that result, she added titles in the Pan American Championship and the Club World Cup, to finish in third place in the world and Olympic ranking of her division.
