The community members of the Integrated North of Yapacaní, who are asking for the construction of a 30 kilometer road, declared this Sunday afternoon a new intermission quarter in the blockade from the Santa Cruz-Cochabamba highway.
According to a report by EL DEBER correspondent, Soledad Prado, the measure was taken at approximately 6:20 p.m.
The leadership of the protesters assured that they will allow even the last vehicle in the long line to pass of motorized that was formed in both sides of the point of conflict, installed in the kilometer 50 of Yapacaní.
Then the protesters will once again block the interdepartmental highway.
On March 9, at an emergency meeting in the Northern Integrated Zone of Yapacaní, the protesters also resolved to give Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) and its subsidiaries a “term of 24 hours to suspend their activities and withdraw all their area”.
And in this context, at the end of Friday afternoon, the protesters closed the entrance to the Yarará wells X1, X2 and X3, reported Prado.
Even, in a video, the moment in which a group of community members protest at said entrance is observed. “We are here because of the paved road,” confirmed one of the protesters.
Meanwhile, “the minister (of Public Works) Édgar Montaño seems not to have read our resolution; In article 1, we are clearly asking the government to recognize our North Integrated Yapacaní area and the road construction project,” said Fernando Millares, president of the Pro Camino Committee.
