After the Police intervened in various communities in search of the fugitive, merchants reopened their doors and schools returned to teaching in person.
In Yamasá they consider it a relief that as a result of the police deployment from Maricao at kilometer 20 to 35 in Los Botados, in search of Yanepa, tranquility has returned to the area.

They say that after the agents’ siege of the dangerous criminal Andrés de los Santos (Yanepa), who was acting together with Leandro and Ponguita, the latter arrested, the anxiety has disappeared in these two communities. They demand that the uniformed officers not rest until they manage to capture and bring Yanepa to justice, in order to prevent future reprisals against the residents of Yamasá, Guanuma and Los Botados.

The Police reported that last night another of the members of the band “Yanepa”, known as Leandro Carmona, accused of multiple crimes, including homicides and armed robberies on the Yamasá highway, Santo Domingo Norte.
“Leandro Carmona is accused of being one of those responsible for causing the death of Adolfo Vergal Javier. In addition, he is credited with having wounded Gengry Núñez Montero and Corporal Jarlin de los Santos del Rosario with a firearm projectile,” he stated.
The members of homicides assigned to the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dicrim)assure that investigations are advanced to capture Yanepa, an alleged antisocial person considered dangerous and who is heavily armed.
The Police spokesperson, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, urged the fugitive to imitate the action of his henchmen and surrender by any means he considers appropriate to avoid unfortunate situations.
He strongly stated that agents from elite teams and Dicrim will not rest until they locate him, aware that “Yanepa” is heavily armed and multiple crimes are attributed to him.
