This Saturday, October 12, the Wide Front took his election campaign to Rocha, emphasizing their commitment to policies that, according to them, have already proven effective. The vice presidential candidate Carolina Cosseaddressed critical security issues while the presidential Yamandu Orsi He vehemently defended his party’s historic achievements and its electoral program.
At the event, Carolina Cosse expressed her concern about the recent acts of violence in Montevideo, highlighting the murder of a child in a shootout and the homicide of a homeless person. Cosse argued that these incidents are not “isolated cases” and that they reflect an unacceptable reality in which street situations and urban violence have been normalized. He urged addressing these issues as a priority, criticizing those who focus on irrelevant debates.
Cosse highlighted the need to speak “with our feet in reality” and stated that his party has never ignored the seriousness of the security problem in Uruguay. In his opinion, the Frente Amplio has always faced challenges directly, without looking away.
The Frente Amplio goes door to door to capture more votes
For his part, Yamandú Orsi focused his speech on the importance of carrying out the campaign in a cheerful and non-confrontational manner. He responded to accusations from his official opponents of avoiding debates, stating that he has visited 70 locations in his campaign and that he maintains direct communication with citizens. He stressed that the Frente Amplio has a clear program of proposals and that its management history is proof of its effectiveness.
Orsi emphasized the pride he feels in his party, arguing that, unlike other political forces, the Frente Amplio can confidently point to its past achievements. He specifically highlighted that initiatives in areas such as health, education and digital infrastructure are testament to his ability to lead the country effectively.
Orsi criticized Andrés Ojeda and his speech
In his speech, Orsi also referred to André Ojeda, candidate of the Colorado Party, criticizing the way in which some ideas are presented as novelties. He noted that the Frente Amplio has already implemented concrete measures, such as the 8,000 animal castrations in Canelones and the construction of shelters for dogs by inmates, showing its commitment to animal welfare.
This focus on concrete results was one of the cornerstones of the event in Rocha. Orsi not only highlighted the change in the energy matrix and the creation of the Eye Hospital, but also the implementation of the National Health System and the advance in digital infrastructure with fiber optics and underwater cable.
