Professor Yadira Pino, from the Federation of Education Workers of Panama, referred to the appointment of the new Minister of Education and said that if the delay means that a person with capacity is going to be appointed, then it is acceptable.
He explained that there is no profile as such for the Minister of Education, but the capacity for administration and management and the availability to make changes, as well as having conflict resolution mechanisms, are important.
Pino said that we must have firmer control in the Ministry of Education and make reforms in the use of the FECE, in addition to oversight of the use of these funds. “Funds cannot be used arbitrarily and without control.”
