Who is Xóchitl Bravo?
Xóchitl Bravo Espinoza is a deputy elected for district 14 based in Tlalpan and is currently the coordinator of the Democratic Women Parliamentary Association and a member of the Political Coordination Board. As of September 1, she will be the Coordinator of the Morena parliamentary group in the Congress of Mexico City.
She has a degree in law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and from a young age she was involved in social struggle and left-wing activism, mainly in the Tlalpan mayor’s office.
She has held several positions in public administration, such as coordinator of the general directorate of territorial regularization in 2012, director of social development in the Tlalpan delegation, in the administration of the former head of the demarcation, Claudia Sheinbaum, in 2015 and director of general services in the Tlalpan mayor’s office in 2020.
In 2021, he entered the Mexico City Congress through a plurinominal system, representing the Morena party.
In Morena’s internal process for different positions, Xóchitl Bravo was one of the promoters and drivers of Clara Brugada’s candidacy as a candidate for Head of Government.
She also participated in the polls for the election of the candidate for mayor of Tlalpan, however she did not win.
During her presentation as the new parliamentary leader of Morena, Xóchitl Bravo promised to establish open dialogue with all parties to promote the agenda for the benefit of the inhabitants of the capital.
“We have a very big responsibility, a responsibility that was granted to us on June 2 and that is the immense responsibility of not letting down the people of this city; that is something that we will always watch out for in the Congress of Mexico City, in this Parliamentary Group, but also with our allied colleagues, the PT and the Verde, because we built this together,” he said.
