Would Collado and Carolina be the winning ticket for the PRM?

Santo Domingo, RD.– The most recent national public opinion survey by the firm ABC Marketing places the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in a privileged position ahead of the 2028 presidential elections, with David Collado leading the voting intention and Carolina Mejia consolidating itself as a competitive alternative inside and outside the organization.

The study, conducted from February 18 to 21, 2026 through in-person interviews with 1,200 citizens over 18 years of age in 31 of the country’s 32 provinces, offers an x-ray of the national political panorama when there are less than two years left for the elections, based on the results obtained by the polling firm ABC Marketing.

Collado leads the electoral preference

When asked who they would vote for if the elections were tomorrow, Collado obtained 28.5% support, surpassing Leonel Fernandez (17.1%), Omar Fernandez (16.3%), Carolina Mejia (13.3%) and Abel Martinez (4.7%).

Inside the PRM47.3% of those surveyed perceive that Collado would be the party’s official candidate, while 22.9% identify Mejía as the possible nominee. These data position both leaders as the main cards of the ruling party.

Second round scenarios favor the PRM

Carolina Mejía also presents competitive numbers. In a scenario against Omar Fernández he obtains 35.8% compared to 37.0%, while against Leonel Fernández he would achieve 42.5%, surpassing the 37.8% of the leader of the People’s Force.

These results feed the hypothesis of an eventual PRM presidential ticket headed by Collado and accompanied by Mejía, a formula that, according to the survey, would have real possibilities of consolidating the official vote and expanding the advantage over the opposition.

Perception of winner and electoral rejection

Regardless of party sympathies, the 30.8% consider that Collado would win the 2028 electionsfollowed by Leonel Fernandez (18.2%) and Omar Fernández (15.2%).

In the line of “antivote”, Leonel Fernández registers the highest level of rejection with 20.8%, followed by Gonzalo Castillo (10.8%).

Likewise, 39.1% understand that the PRM would win the next presidential election, compared to 20.3% who bet on Fuerza del Pueblo, while 21.1% did not express an opinion.

The study also reflects a solid assessment of the president Luis Abinader. His personal image obtained a 51.2% good rating and 17.6% a very good rating, for a total of 68.8% positive rating.

Furthermore, 59.4% approve of its general management and 63.7% evaluate its performance between good and very good. 56.3% consider that the country is changing for the better under his leadership.

Main citizen concerns

Despite the scenario favorable to the ruling party, crime continues to be the main national concern (36.8%), especially armed robbery. This is followed by the cost of living (15.0%) and the cost of the family basket (13.8%).

55.6% consider that the country is on the right track, while 25.7% understands that the course is wrong.

Would Collado and Carolina be the winning ticket for the PRM?
Restlessness and anxiety are some of the situations that arise.

The survey was presented by Juan Carlos Maldonado, president of ABC Marketingand is based on the electoral roll of the Central Electoral Board (7,505,507 voters), with a margin of error of ±2.8% and a confidence level of 95%.

With these numbers, the PRM is projected as the best-positioned organization heading into 2028. The question now is whether a formula made up of David Collado and Carolina Mejía would end up consolidating itself as the ruling party’s winning ticket.
