93% of those hospitalized in pediatrics are due to respiratory syncytial virus, more than half are less than one year old.
In the last week (SE) 18 an increase of 2% is detected in consultations for influenza-like illnesses, exceeding the alert threshold. At the country level, there is a total of 274,136 consultations for respiratory symptoms.
In this same period, a sustained increase in the activity of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)which mainly affects children under one year of age.
In the sentinel centers there is a growth of hospitalized for severe acute respiratory infections, associated with respiratory viruses in children (93%), with predominance in children under one year of age (51%).
The highest number of hospitalized due to respiratory syncytial virus comes from Amambay (65%), followed by Alto Paraná (11%) and Central (10%).

To date they are registered 202 hospitalizations due to respiratory syncytial virus, 15 admissions to intensive care and 6 deaths.
On the other hand, data from private laboratories record an increase in influenza A in the last three weeks, reaching the highest percentage of cases in the last week (SE) 18.
Thus, there is also evidence of a progressive increase in those affected by SARS-COV2, mainly in the age group of 20 years and older.

In the last evaluated week (SE) 18, according to sentinel surveillance, the 322 hospitalized for SARIof which, 61% (195) correspond to the pediatric age, and 39% (127) to the adult age range.
So far in 2023, the greater affectation in the pediatric age (0 to 19 years) is due to respiratory syncytial virus. While the highest proportion of admissions to intensive care is due to influenza B (31%), followed by SARS-CoV2 (21%).
In the adult range (20 years and over) it is reflected that the greatest affectation of respiratory symptoms is due to the SARS-CoV2 virus, which transmits COVID-19.
This virus is also responsible for the largest number of admissions to intensive care (22%), followed by respiratory syncytial virus (21%) in this population group.
As for whats accumulated deaths associated with respiratory viruses, in the sentinel centers a total of 83 deaths are computed: SARS-CoV-2 (66); Influenza B (8); respiratory syncytial virus (5); Adenovirus (3) and a coinfection (syncytial virus + H1N1 influenza).
