The group world Bank has a plan to diversify the economic support it provides to the Dominican Republic, during the period 2022-2026, based on three pillars of improvement with which it seeks to impact the public services to the citizenry and improve the quality of the jobs and the ability to respond to change climate.
The investment portfolio is 1,800 million dollars, to invest in five years, through various sectoral programs, of which 100 million will be to develop housing programs and 300 million for the generation of renewable energy, financial sector and real sector.
The investment strategy was detailed by Alexandria Valerio, representative of the world Bank in the Dominican Republic, who stressed that they have identified opportunities of improvements so that economic growth also has a particular impact on Dominican women and girls.
Valerio spoke with members of the press during a meeting in which various economic issues were addressed with greater perspective in improving the equity gender in the country.
According to him Country Alliance Framework 2022-2026, the world Bank will support the Dominican Republic to reform fiscal space and public spending to improve efficiency in the electricity sector, and improve the range of coverage and quality of health and social security networks.

After evaluating the sectors of service to the citizenry, the world Bank projects that the subsidy numbers Bonolight will increase by a 33% at the end of 2026, for which they contemplate carrying out a survey of vulnerable households that have little access to the service.

One of the variables with the highest weighting when evaluating the quality of the jobs is the educationwhich motivates world Bank to generate suggestions to the government sector to increase the quality of education and training in the Dominican Republic.

During the investment period, the world Bank collaborate with the government so that during the five years it is possible to integrate government services modernized in 300 companies nationwide.
It is projected that, with the financial support of this international organization, at least 44,000 people will have financing to acquire households dignified by 2026. The program may emphasize women, of whom 70% do not have their own home.
Climate change
The group world Bank will support reforms to boost the sustainability of landscapes and natural resources, water management and strengthening the country’s capacity to deal with external climatic phenomena.
To improve the national response to climate change It is necessary to improve various basic services such as access to drinking water. In this sense, Valerio reported that by 2026 they expect to increase six times the number of people with access to water supply.
While 90,000 more people will have access to improved wastewater treatment and 34,609 will be able to count on irrigation or sewer system new ones that avoid contamination and other risks related to accumulations of water.
Likewise, they seek to create initiatives that promote the reduction of five million carbon emissions related to forests by 2025.
