This Thursday was held, before the Mausoleum of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, in the National Pantheon of Caracas, a floral offering ceremony by the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Relations (MPPRE) and the African Diplomatic Corps accredited in the country, in addition to special guests, as part of the commemorative program for the World Africa Day, within the framework of the international week of this continent in Venezuela, in its 18th edition.
“We are accompanying the entire African Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Today we celebrate World Africa Day and in this context, Venezuela has relations with the 55 countries of Mother Africa,” said the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Yvan Gil.
“Today we celebrate the day of the African Union and our country, from the presidency of the Commander Hugo Chávez Frías in 1999 and now with the president Nicolas Maduro Moros, We have made agreements and advanced cooperation work”, commented the Chancellor.

Regarding the orientation towards a multipolar space in the world, as opposed to the unilateralist trend, Minister Gil contextualized that “Africa is an extremely rich continent, not only in economy, technology and population growth, but also in its contribution political. Africa is called to be a fundamental pole of power, which is why we say that Venezuela supports Africa joining the United Nations Security Council.”
For his part, the dean of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Caracas and ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olorundare Phillip Awoniyi, He stated that “Venezuela has an important diplomatic presence throughout the African continent. The struggle of Venezuela is a struggle of the peoples of Africa and the success of Venezuela is the success of Africa, South America and all of Latin America.”
This Thursday, May 25, World Africa Day is celebrated, commemorating that on the same date in 1963, 32 leaders of African States met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to form the Organization of African Unity, today African Union (AU).
