Rural roads: the main attraction
In dialogue with EL ECO, the mayor acknowledged that rural roads have presented difficulties in recent months due to inclement weather. “The road has collapsed a little,” he said, explaining that after a period of drought, intense rains occurred since the fall and winter of 2025, which seriously affected traffic conditions.
In response to the claims, Besozzi reported that the Municipality is in the process of reorganizing and renewing its fleet of road machinery. “We are changing machinery, reorganizing ourselves to move forward,” he stated, while asking for a period of between 45 and 60 days to begin to see concrete results. In that sense, he announced the arrival of new machines, including one already assigned to Cardona and others on the way, in addition to four recently acquired trucks.
Permanent crew
One of the main novelties is the intention to establish a permanent construction crew in the southern area of the department. “The idea is to have a team that stays in Agraciada and serves the entire region from Dolores down,” explained Besozzi. This change seeks to provide a more agile and closer response to residents of rural areas in the repair and maintenance of roads.
Likewise, he highlighted the incorporation of a specific works coordinator for this region of Soriano.
high school transportation
Another of the topics discussed was student transportation. The current bus that provides services to high schools is in an obsolete state. “We bought it through an agreement with Juan Salgado, president of Cutcsa, who will even be in charge of removing the old one,” explained the leader.
The announcement of the new unit had been made in his previous period of government and that it was going to begin operating in 2025, but now it will be for 2026.
The new bus, although it is not zero kilometer, “will have air conditioning” and more comfort than the current one. It is expected to arrive at “the end of November”, so it would begin operating next school year.
Tourism and heritage projects
Within the framework of the 200 years of the landing of the Thirty-Three Easterners, the mayor reaffirmed his commitment to rescuing the historical and cultural value of the area. He confirmed that the mayor’s office will include in its budget the improvement of the Estancia Ordoñana, one of the key heritage projects of its management, along with the Mauá Castle, in Mercedes.
“We are going to do a very good job to highlight this place that is so important to our history,” he assured, also highlighting the positive impact that the installation of port terminals in the area would have, both from a logistical and tourist point of view.
