The Congressional Consumer Defense Commission, headed by the Senate candidate and legislator from Together for Peru, Voices of the People and Democratic Bloc, Katy Ugarte, held a working group to talk about the situation of the emergency decree (DU) that proposes the reorganization of Petroperu.
During the meeting, in which representatives of state workers, consumers, the Ombudsman’s Office, among others, participated, they spoke about the rejection of what they call a privatization of the state company, however, nothing was mentioned about the workers’ sweethearts.
And, according to the Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Denisse Miralles, Petroperú officials have more than 80 job benefits that go beyond salary, and that generate costs for the State company.
The meeting focused mainly on the request for the repeal of DU 010-2025, which establishes measures to reactivate the oil company that is in crisis and to which the State has already disbursed more than S/17 billion.
The session also did not discuss solutions for paying the debt of more than S/2 billion owed to suppliers who today demand compliance with obligations, otherwise it harms them, as well as small companies with which they have commitments.

The former president of Petroperú, Alejandro Narváez, also participated in the meeting, who assured that he left the company stabilized when he left in October. However, it must be remembered that in the third quarter (as of September 2025), the company recorded losses that amounted to US$355 million, that is, around S/1.2 billion.
Narváez also referred again to the difference in salaries of Petroperú’s senior managers with what officials of another institution earn, as is the case of the president of the Central Reserve Bank, Julio Velarde. Something that was omitted is the impact that the head of the BCR has had on the economy and monetary stability.
