The president of the Judicial Branch of Mexico City, Rafael Guerra Álvarez, defended the judicial reform and assured that the labor rights of magistrates, counselors, judges and workers will be fully respected.

After family, civil and criminal courts in the city suspended work to join the protest against the reform in the matter, he maintained that such rights will continue to be your priority and pointed out that they were established in the tenth transitory article of the opinion approved by the Chamber of Deputies.

He said the proposal to elect judges by popular vote would be implemented gradually.

Guerra Álvarez recalled that the renewal of judges in Mexico City will be by election starting next year and only from available positions. This process, he indicated, should be concluded in 2027.

He added that coordination with the federal Executive and Legislative powers laid the foundations for a permanent dialogue after the elections of June 2. Then the first National Dialogue for the Reform of the Judicial Branch was held, in which it was proposed that the election by popular vote in the states be gradual, a proposal that was heard.
