Santo Domingo-. The works for the expansion of line 2 of the Santo Domingo Metro towards the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, and the construction of the Cablewayalthough there is still a long way to go in both works.
Reporters from El Nacional observed this Wednesday, February 22, heavy equipment along the Duarte highway, although they were not allowed to take photos inside what will be the transportation system, which will link Los Alcarrizos with the center of the capital.
Line 2c will have five stations, from kilometer 9 of the Duarte highway to the Los Alcarrizos entrance, where it will connect with the Cable Car, which will run through several neighborhoods in that sector.

Many companies, shopping centers and homes have already been evicted on the shore of said road, while it is expected that in the coming weeks the works will be expanded towards kilometer 14.
“The works have advanced a lot, but there are still many things to do,” said one of the workers who work on the site, who requested that his name not be used.
The work, in charge of the Office for the Reordering of Transportation (Opret), is scheduled to be inaugurated at the beginning of the year 2024 and covers a stretch of 7.3 kilometers, with five stations.
“There is already a part of the Metro structure that has its base complete and in other sections the piles are being placed to continue the progress of the work,” he said.
Approximately 500 million dollars will be used for the execution of the project, according to official data, which ensures that some two thousand people are working on the project.
The project seeks to lower the cost of transportation for thousands of people who commute to the capital every day to work and study, as well as save time during the journey.
When this transport system is working, a person will be able to move from Los Alcarrizos to Villa Mella for only 20 pesos, something that is currently unthinkable.
