Work progresses at the treatment plant of the Cabo Rojo project, Pedernales

Santo Domingo.- The treatment plant being built in the tourism development project Red Cape in Pedernales is 85% complete. The work uses “activated sludge” technology, which allows the reuse of waste waste for fertilization and irrigation in agricultural areas.

Engineer Ángel Mercedes, head of the technical office of the company responsible for the project, explained that the plant will process wastewater from all the infrastructures that make up the ambitious project, including hotels, port, aerodrome, golf course and others.

“What we are looking for with this type of plant is to be able to reuse treated water for irrigation and for crops, whether it be golf courses or gardens. In this way we can ensure that the Cabo Rojo project is developed in an environmentally friendly manner,” said Mercedes, after highlighting that the work complies with national and international environmental standards.

The project is part of the infrastructure that makes up the Cabo Rojo project and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
