Work on the storm drainage system at the Enrique Malek airport in Chiriquí is 85% progressing

Tocumen SA, informed that the ditch construction and slope erosion control works carried out at the Enrique Malek International Airport, in Chiriquí, have registered an advance of 85%.

These works contemplate mitigating the effects produced by heavy rains and their impact on the runway, green areas, communities surrounding the air terminal and minimizing erosion in the foundations of the perimeter fence, which was already in danger of collapsing. in some areas and in other points it left the possibility of fauna entering the operational areas of the air terminal.

In addition, they include hydrological studies, topography of the area, hydraulic/structural design, slope stabilization, excavation with mechanical equipment, construction of 675 ML of double line of canalization, retaining walls, slope profiling and planting of grass for protection against erosion, among other complementary works.

The most recent statistical data published on the Tocumen SA website states that this airport has mobilized a total of 115,757 travelers during the first 6 months of 2022.
