Work gets underway at the Armando Dely Valdés Stadium in Colón

The remodeling work on the emblematic soccer stadium, Armando Dely Valdés, in the province of Colón, began last Monday, January 20, 2025, to the satisfaction of the fans and the sports community of the Atlantic Coast.

The works include a new playing field with synthetic grass and FIFA specifications, with a modern irrigation system, structural change of the roof and cover, raising of seats (1,200) and waterproofing of the stands.

Remodeling work will also be carried out on the internal façade, new floors, bathrooms, dressing rooms, offices and access for people with disabilities.

The iconic home of the Arab Kingdom of Colón, in the Panamanian Soccer League, will include a new screen with interactive lights, a fire and security system.

The General Director of Pandeportes, Miguel Ordóñez, pointed out that, after reviewing the scope of the project and the specifications, the placement of 800 new seats for fans was included through a retractable type module on the west side of the stadium.

He also indicated that a total lifting of approximately 30 or 40cm of the playing field and athletics track will be carried out, to allow water to flow during the rainy season and prevent flooding.

Together with the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), we are talking to ensure that the storm drains, both on the perimeter and in the areas surrounding the stadium, function properly, to avoid the problems of the past.

For lovers of athletics, one of the sports where the people of Colon have given us great moments, they will now have inside the Armando Dely Valdés stadium, a new tartan track similar to the one currently in the Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez stadium, with international certification. An investment that will strengthen the development of athletes and turn the province of Colón into a venue for high-level events due to the quality of its facilities. In addition, two long jump pits are being built (one large and one smaller).

Work begins at the Armando Dely Valdés Stadium, in Colón.

The company in charge of the works is PROLOSA and it is expected that during the 7 months that the work will take, more than 70 people will be hired in the purely Colonense workforce.

At the Panamanian Sports Institute, we request the collaboration of citizens to respect the closure of the stadium and avoid any attempt to enter.

This effort is part of Pandeportes’ commitment to offering modern, functional and safe facilities for the development of sports in our country.
