The work in the supertanker area in Matanzas continues this Saturday, August 13, after the authorities of the fire department last August 12 declare The fire that raged at that base for a week has been officially extinguished.
In the morning hours, the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported that of the 132 people affected in the incident, 22 are hospitalized, they remain in two those officially deceased and 108 patients have been discharged.
For his part, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, reported that in the early hours of this Saturday the specialists of the team in charge of find the remains of those who disappeared in the area of the fire found new bone fragments from four different people while the corresponding analyzes are being carried out in specialized laboratories.
On the ground, work continues to continue the search for new remains of the victims of the fatal event. It was learned that the specialists began to film with a drone the possible route of the fuel that spread the fire at the base.
On the other hand, specialists from the Center for Research and Environmental Management of Transport (Cimab) are analyzing the quality of the air in the industrial zone of Matanzas, in the surroundings of the fire, as well as in other places and spaces of the city to evaluate possible contamination damage.

Satellite monitoring of the impact on the atmosphere, the evaluation of effects on the soil, water and biodiversity, as well as the surveillance of possible respiratory conditions among the surrounding population, are other actions that the Citma and the MINSAP will carry out.
Similarly, this Saturday the ship departed for Mexico Liberatorof the Mexican Navy, the second ship that arrived in Matanzas (the first was the ship Bourbon Artabaze) to help extinguish the fire at the supertanker base in Matanzas.
The authorities of the province presented two Friendship medals from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, in addition to the Labor Prowess Flag of the CTC, to the crew of the Liberator in the hands of the frigate captain of the General Staff Graduated Corps, and commander of the ship, Ricardo Robledo Navarrete, and the frigate captain of the General Corps and Graduated Helicopter Pilot of the General Staff, Francisco Ever Aguilera Nevares, in gratitude for the support received in the extinction of the fire that kept the entire country on edge throughout the week.
