“Look at the snack… five reais”. Matheus de Souza, 27, expected, this Friday of Passion (18), the moments of silence of the Mass that opened the traditional show of Via Sacra, in Planaltina, 50 kilometers from Brasilia, to offer the public the products that had been carrying in his arms for over three hours.
Matheus said he was proud to have the name of one of the apostles of Christ. The boy wanted to guarantee the sale, but also asking the namesake, Saint Matheus, and even Jesus Christ, who would resurrect in front of him, at the top of Morro da Capelinha, a fixed job and the chance to go back to study to better take care of the two daughters children. Matheus is a solo father and even so young, says dreams are like “miracle.”
“I studied only until fifth grade. I don’t even know how to read properly.”
Just he, who works as a cleaning assistant in a private school, but has no resource to enter such a classroom, such a salty price that he doesn’t even know how to quantify. The routine in the stop, every day that are not saints, goes from 9am to 6pm.
As soon as the hours ends, Matheus goes to the second round, until 10 pm, selling in traffic signs the bags of snacks that tried to offer on the sacra via Planaltina. As soon as they get home, it seeks the girls at the grandmother’s house to tell them stories and start all over the next day.
Decorated Letters
Another miracle waiting has the name of the Father of Jesus. On the Planaltina Sacred Via, Ceará José Silva, 40, sold chips. In fact, this trade activity has known since childhood, in Juazeiro do Norte. 20 years ago he moved to Brasilia and since then seeks survival in small sales nozzles even in public transport. Today, more than himself, he needs to bring his livelihood to his five children in Águas Lindas de Goiás.
The problem is that Joseph considers himself illiterate. He studied only until the second series. To board the bus, he decorated the first two initial letters and the last two of the sign.
“It would be a miracle to go back to school, but only if God really wanted to.” This Saturday, the 85 -kilometer course to work took more than five hours. “Those who are without work need to turn around. Tomorrow will be another day,” he said.
Volunteer
The 52nd edition of the Planaltina Via Sacra Show, one of the administrative regions of the Federal District, was directed by playwright Black Rezende, the public, who usually reaches 100,000 people, and the merchants, all accompanied the capture, judgment, torture, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in 14 stations, with the participation of 1,400 people, actors and extras, who are voluntarily.
People are recruited in the community itself. While emotion takes over those present, there are groups that pay promises, sing and pray remembering their own trajectory.
Cocos and Flowers
One of the faithful, Carlos Silva, who also has a saint’s name and is devoted to Father Cicero, chose not to enter the stations of Via Sacra. Carlos preferred to wait in the entrance portico to offer handcrafted products made with green coconut straw. Hats, food baskets, flowers… He, also illiterate, says he dreamed of childhood, Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, studying medicine. But “everything went wrong.”
He saw himself alone and without his family. It became a homeless person for almost 10 years. He began to pull recycling cart and on the streets learned from friends how to double the straw of the fruit. He learned to climb the tree and sleep under it. Today, at 39, he lives in Planaltina, with two friends, and goes out the streets to sell his art.
“Having a home to live, finish the elementary school by EJA [Educação de Jovens e Adultos] And renting a store would be miracles for me. I will pray and listen to here. ”And as he prays, his hands turn the coconut into another flower.
